COMPANY’S 50TH ANNIVERSARY. COPENHAGEN.
Background
SOS International is the leading assistance organization in the Nordic region with offices situated in Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland. Having existed for five decades SOS wished to gather all employees to celebrate the past 50 years. The objectives of the event were to strengthen the employee relations across country borders, communicate future corporate strategies and unify the organization. And last but not least, SOS wished to throw a great and memorable party.

Solution
The anniversary took place in Copenhagen and was attended by 450 SOS employees. In the morning, the employees arrived by plane from Finland, Norway, Sweden and SOS’s office in Thailand. By shuttle busses the guests were transferred to Radisson Blu Scandinavia Hotel which was the venue hosting the day activities. Accommodation at Radisson Blu Hotel had been arranged for all employees not residing in Copenhagen.
At noon, the official event program began, and all employees gathered for lunch at Radisson Scandinavia. The following activities consisted of a welcome speech and a strategy presentation by the management followed by a teambuilding session during which the employees, divided into teams across national borders and departments, competed on being the best to communicate, cooperate and share knowledge. By the end of the day, Creative Business did a musical presentation with focus on creativity, job satisfaction and commitment.
Radisson Scandinavia was branded with flags from the four countries as well as SOS’s Anniversary logos and slogans printed on huge banners and roll-ups.
After the day activities, the guests had an hour to change into their festive clothes and were then transferred to 1001HAL – an event venue located in Copenhagen. A huge welcome banner and a red carpet printed with SOS’s slogan, ‘Always On’ showed the way into the welcoming area. 1001HAL was branded with huge 25m2 SOS banners, moving logos projected onto the walls and flags from the four countries. The table decorations were red and white – SOS’s corporate colors.
After a short welcome reception with red drinks (SOS’s corporate color is red), the doors opened to the impressive dining area. Music was playing, moving heads illuminated the room, and the tables were beautifully decorated with candles and floating flowers. Once the guests were seated the lights went out and a SOS-video was projected on five giant screens. The video showed historical highlights from the preceding five decades combined with SOS’s history and growth since its foundation. The video evoked great memories and loud cheers.
During the following three-course dinner, Café Kølbert entertained the guests with their unique and curious waiter service and sketches on the stage.
Pictures taken during the entire day and evening were shown on the giant screens all evening, and the guests were given small instant photo cards as a memory of the anniversary.
The dinner was followed by a live band, a DJ, and a packed dance floor all night long.
